Riyadh Pharma selects Autostore for Saudi manufacturing hub

Riyadh Pharma (Medical and Cosmetic Products Company Ltd) has implemented the Autostore warehouse management system (WMS) from leading UK logistics solution provider Central Systems & Automation. Autostore is handling all GAMP-compliant material movements and storage from receipt, production and shipment of finished goods at Riyadh Pharma's automated 22,000 sq.m factory site in Riyadh's 3rd industrial district, Saudi Arabia.

ASRS  ASRS  ASRS

The manufacturing facilities are producing over 200 generic and licensed products to the highest global standards for both local and international markets. Efficiency and specialised knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing and sales ensure profitability for Riyadh Pharma's clients. Experienced financial management provides Riyadh Pharma with premium quality, state-of-the-art equipment and facilities coupled with highly experienced, qualified personnel. The plant was licensed by the Saudi Health Authority in 1998.

Autostore is GAMP (Good Automated Manufacturing Practice) accredited, the worldwide standard for the manufacturing and quality control testing of foods, drugs and medical devices. GAMP compliancy is a statutory requirement for the exsport of pharmaceuticals to the US and EU markets.

Riyadh Pharma operates an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) and Autostore has replaced the legacy warehouse management system. Autostore manages the warehouse and interfaces with Riyadh Pharma's Oracle-based ERP eBusiness host system, handling raw materials in and finished goods out through two aisles and two cranes across 12 levels and 37 columns.

Autostore has replaced the legacy warehouse management system with a range of new features and was introduced seamlessly and without interruption to Riyadh Pharma's live operations. It takes care of all warehouse control functions - for instance material flow control - as well as conveyor programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and all mechanical handling equipment (MHE).

Andrew McKaig, commercial director at Central Systems & Automation, said: "Riyadh Pharma is another important step forward in developing our growing Autostore customer base in the Middle East and our GAMP accreditation proves Autostore's abilities in a secure manufacturing environment. Not only will Autostore underpin Riyadh Pharma's fast-growing domestic and export business, it will deliver efficiency and productivity gains that will drop straight to their bottom line through increased profitability".
